He loves me... he loves me not

He loves me, he loves me not or She loves me, she loves me not (originally effeuiller la marguerite in French) is a game of French origin, in which one person seeks to determine whether the object of their affection returns that affection or not.

A person playing the game alternately speaks the phrases “He (or she) loves me,” and “He loves me not,” while picking one petal off a flower (usually an oxeye daisy) for each phrase. The phrase they speak on picking off the last petal supposedly represents the truth between the object of their affection loving them or not. The player typically is motivated by attraction to the person they’re speaking of while reciting the phrases. They may seek to reaffirm a pre-existing belief, or act out of whimsy.

A humorous twist on the game is “She loves me, she loves me lots.” {Wikipedia}

Most times as a teenager, i begin to doubt the existence of true love. Despite i hear most people say stuffs like “Love is blind” “Love at first sight” “True love does exist if you find your soul mate” etc. I begin to ponder on these words and wonder how such thoughts could cause such speculation on my mind. Over the years, I have seen most guys (practically people i knew) start a relationship which couldn’t see to the nexr year. From my observations i noticed that most people get into a relationship for various reasons. Some might be for genuine reasons while some for selfish reasons.

Now picture this; Tim met Sally in a club on Tuesday evening. After much chatting and few drinks they shared together, Tim decided to take it to the next level. As cute and extroverted as he was, he politely asked for Sally’s number which she gave without much hesitation. Its Friday evening as he took his phone and dialed Sally’s number: She at the other end had waited for his call which never came. They had a couple of “chit chat” for an hour or so when he popped the question “Can I take you out for dinner later tonight?”. Feeling all special and in happy mood, she gladly accepted his offer which was fixed at 8 pm that night. Dressed in her colorful crimson gown with hair all combed and styled, she was indeed ready for a night of adventure. Tim on the other end was a man of his words so he was was already at her doorstep before 8 pm. Vous regardez madame belle sally, he said in French as she smiled gently while he escorted her to his car. That night was the best sally ever got as much chivalry was shown by the gentleman. She loved his eyes which shone as shiny pebbles in the evening star. When he laughs, she always longs for a ‘replay’. Tim was said to be the perfect guy at that euphoric moment between the two. As some would say; Love was in the air. After fews hours of fun, they duo decided to call it a day as he was given a goodnight kiss. What started as an ordinary drink at the bar had escalated to a deep strong feeling between the two. ***Watch your emotions!

The story continues as both lovers did almost everything together: cooking, reading, playing… they were so into each other. Sally thought she had the “One”… but only if she knew. ***Love doesn’t lie! Its 8 months as everything seems to be going perfectly until She noticed the first “bump” on her shoulders. It was like the once young blissful relationship seemed to fade into the woods. ***True loves never fades! Tim was no more “gentleman Tim” anymore; oh! what happened to chivalry and French speaking Tim. Relationship was getting sour, sally was getting moodier by the minute. Tim wasn’t all she thought he was.. he was more! ***At least get to know someone before you choose to become intimate. Wasn’t 8 months enough to know all about Tim?, Well you see, being with someone for so long is not a guarantee that you will truly know all about that person. We human beings are created unique and special, you have to allow someone into your heart before such individual may even begin the “knowing” process. As Sally sat outside the porch, she picks up the daisy petal flower on the floor as she mumbles silently “He loves me, he loves me not..” She sat all night probably wondering were she had gone wrong. ***Its either true love or something like it! Be free to fall in love, Be free to be happy. Nobody should take your joy away but always remember to use your head!
